Fall News

ARAB, Inc. Fall News
Hi everyone!

We have scheduled our annual meeting. It will be held November 11th at 1 PM at StarWest. Lunch will be a potluck, so please bring something for us to enjoy. Our main dish will be Laurie Kern’s great Italian beef, but we will need side dishes. Drinks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own, also.

Our meeting will include any discussion on the resolutions for the AHA Convention. You can view them all here (click). We will also be discussing our plans for 2019, including our shows, the Arabian Springfest (April 5-6 in Rantoul, IL) and the Region XI Sport Horse Championships & Pre-Show (May 16-19 in Springfield, IL). We are also in the early stages of planning an April version of the show we just held in Springfield. It will tentatively be April 27-28 in Springfield, IL. We already know we need volunteers for all of those shows, so please consider that now.

Plans for our annual banquet are underway, also. We will be moving to a new location, so our normal dates and times may be altered from tradition a bit.

We have also extended the enrollment deadline for the 2018 ARAB, Inc. High Point Awards. We were all rather busy in September and just forgot to send out a reminder, so the new deadline is October 31st. The form and more information on the categories here on our website.

If you have anything you would like to discuss at the meeting, please let me know. I would like to see some club growth in 2019, so if you have any ideas specifically relating to that topic, I would really appreciate hearing them.

Thank you!

One show down, but so much to go!

We wrapped up our first event of the year this past weekend, the Arabian Springfest show. ARAB, Inc. is lucky enough to be able to co-host this show along with the Illinois Arabian Horse Association and the Illini Arabian Horse Club. The show had a new Friday/Saturday format for this year, and I’m happy to say that the show went smoothly! We have a few minor adjustments to make it even better in 2019, but, all in all, the show committee was really happy with the exhibitors’ comments during the show.

Our Spring Celebration is fast approaching. I’ll be doing a post on it alone within the next week or so. It deserves its own!

The Region 11 Sport Horse Championships are fast approaching, as well. Pre-entries close on April 25th, which is not far off at all! With an adjusted schedule for this year, we expect the show to run easily over its long five day length. The first two days of pre-show classes should give everyone plenty of time to settle in and be ready for the real fun of Regionals! If you’re able to volunteer or wish to help us in anyway, send us an email at chelseawesson@yahoo.com.

Almost spring!

The weather has definitely taken a turn for the better here in central Illinois! I hope everyone has been able to enjoy it with their horses!

With warmer weather comes horse shows! Our first local show, the Missouri Extravaganza, is just over a week away. Though it’s not held by ARAB, Inc., it’s a favorite of many of our members. With a full schedule encompassing just about everything, it’s a great show to catch up with everyone.

I know many have been anxiously awaiting the prize list for the 2018 Region 11 Sport Horse Championships & Pre-Show, and it is now available! Click here to see all of the information on it.

Our first club show of 2018 is a month away. The Arabian Springfest Horse Shows are always a competitive event to watch. If you’ve never been, this is the year to come and check out the all new schedule!

In April, we have our Spring Celebration event on the 21st. Sue Schultz has graciously volunteered to host the event, and we couldn’t be more excited to share our horses with the public!

More January News

Hi everyone!
If you haven’t had a chance to RSVP to our banquet yet, today is your last shot! The banquet is this Saturday, and more information can be found on our website and Facebook page.
I’m also including a bit of information put together by Alice Martin for our event coming up on April 21st in Belleville, IL. Sue Schultz has kindly agreed to host this event, which is still somewhat in development. If you are interested in helping us out at all or interested in promoting it, please let a club officer know. I’d like to see this be a great event to promote the Arabian horse outside of just club members and current owners, but we’ll see! All ideas are welcome! I believe Sue, Alice and myself will all be at the banquet this weekend, so find us if you have any thoughts.2018aprilevent
The other document that is attached is from the Davenport Arabian Horse Conservancy regarding the publication of a new book. This book sound really interesting, so we wanted to make sure our club members were aware of it.
Hope to see many of you on Saturday!

2018 Arabian Springfest

The prize list for the 2018 Springfest Horse Shows is now online! Click here.

We are really excited about the changes made to this show for 2018. The new, two day format starts on Friday and runs through all day Saturday. Everyone will be able to head home early on Sunday, making it easier on exhibitors, owners and staff. We’ve also changed the show to include a larger number of Option classes that can be placed at the buyer’s choice within the schedule.

The show has also added six ATR Jackpot classes. These are a new addition to the Region, and we are excited to see where they take us! The ATR classes are usually good sized at this show and should offer some top contenders!

Please consider joining us at this great show on April 6 & 7!
